Happiness Index for Shanghai Women Issued

On August 29, Newswoman from SWF declared at SWF Press Conference its program in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC. Weng Wenlei, vice chairperson of SWF and Zhu Qianwei, SWF Senior Staff showed up at the event.

Prof. Yu Yuhua, Director of Women Studies Center in East China Normal Teachers University presented a report on Happiness Index for Shanghai Women, which was entrusted by Shanghai Commission for Advancement of Women and Children. The index was made up of six dimensions plus a dimension of subjective assessment, which helped project a fairly detailed picture of women in Shanghai. The samples were picked at random from permanent female residents aging 18 and above. So far, 2,016 questionnaires were collected during the research. The index for Shanghai women in terms of their happiness were reported 4.17 based on a five-grade marking system. It was a big leap as compared with the result at the 12th five-year period.
